Hazelwood Announcements for Thursday, September 20, 2018

• The “Bridge to Success” program is today after school from 3:45 – 6:00 p.m. in the café.

• Campus Life is today from 4-5 in room 365.

• Medical forms for Washington, D.C. are due by September 21st.

• The letters for the laying of the wreath in Arlington are due by September 21st.

• Last night, the boy’s tennis team defeated Henryville 4-1. JT Zimmerman, Gavin Hamilton, LaMon Tyler, Jordan Treat, Malik Smith, Jordan Rogers, Cooper Case and Kaleb Bradshaw all picked up wins for the team. Great Job Boys!

• On September 28th, we will be hosting Hazelwood’s first ever dance off! You’ll be showing us your best moves to some of the coolest dances like the floss, kiki challenge, and orange justice. It will be 40 bark bones to participate, and winners will receive prizes! If you are participating, you must let your core plus teacher know by September 25th. If you just want to come and watch, it is 25 bark bones to enter. See you on the 28th, and be sure to practice your dance moves!

• Do you want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a veterinarian, a teacher, a police officer, or a computer programmer? This Thursday, September 20 is our PTO school spirit fun day….Career Day! Dress up like what you want to be when you grow up to have fun at school with your friends!

• On September 28th, we will be hosting Hazelwood’s first ever dance off! You’ll be showing us your best moves to some of the coolest dances like the floss, kiki challenge, and orange justice. • Hazelwood 7th grade girls volleyball team beat Scribner in 2 sets last night 25-20 25-15. All the girls played awesome and hustled and was diving on the court for balls. Each team member contributed all night. Players are: Kylie Mumaw, Avery Kiesler, Kira Schmidt, Aleyah Ford, Cheyenne Farr, Vanessa Sullivan, Taryn hunter, Izzy Fenwick, Alexis sans and, Even though she is hurt, Cheyenne Farnsley. Coach Cox is very proud of them!

• The cross country team ran at East Washington yesterday. The following runners received awards…. Ja’Quan Jones, Kaitylynn VanWinkle, Kyliegh Burke, Lila Endres, Alex Needy, Preston Wint, George Mullins, Nisa Abell and Sage Fleenor. Practice is today after school at Hazelwood from 4-5pm

• Despite great effort from the entire team, our lady bullpups soccer team came up short against a powerful Providence squad 1-0. The lone goal was scored on a penalty kick late in the game. Even with the loss, the girls had a winning season and are in the playoffs! They will play Scottsburg on Friday night at 6 p.m. on the Silver Street field. These two teams tied to start the season, so the bullpups need great fan support to help them beat the Warriors this time. Come out and cheer them on to victory!
• Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) would like to invite all Hazelwood students to join them every Tuesday morning in Mrs. Endres’ room from 8:30-8:52 for a student led devotional and prayer. It will be a great way to start your day!

• The 7th grade volleyball team beat Clarksville last night 25-18 25-12. Avarey Kiesler had 10 aces and Vanessa Sullivan got in her first serve of the season for the bullpups.

• Today is the last day for the book fair! We are open from 9-4 today, so come and get your favorite titles. We have more copies of Where She Fell, The Collector, Screen Shot and Fortnite! This afternoon we should be getting more copies of Strays Like Us, and if your favorite is out of stock, we can special order it for you. Thanks for shopping!

• Any middle school student who is attending a football game at New Albany High School MUST have a parent with them. You have to be seated in the bleachers. If you are found running around without a parent, you will be asked to leave and you will NOT be allowed to come to any more games.

• 6th grade girls volleyball has practice today at 7:30.

• Saturday, September 8th is the New Albany high school Cheerleading clinic! It is $30 if you register before August 31st, or $40 at the door. The Bullpups posted a clean sheet lead by goalkeeper Will Ellenbrand and strong central defense by Nathaniel Martinez. Wesley Omerso came in late and was able to keep the cougars from scoring in the second half. Bullpup goals were scored by Larry Fanning, Kurt Geron, Jaedon Lopez, and a hat trick from Finn Railey. • Please join the Hazelwood boys’ soccer team tonight for an historic event. They will be playing in the first ever school sanctioned matches against crosstown rival Scribner! The 5/6 grade team plays at 6, and the 7/8 grade team plays at 7:30. The games will be played at the soccer field behind Prosser on Charlestown Road. Student admission is free. See you there!
