Announcements: Thursday, April 20, 2017

• The library will be closed for ISTEP testing beginning on Monday morning, including before school. Students should go to their designated areas. There will be a box outside the library to return book, and the library will be open after school for book business only.

• Next week we will be collecting “gently used” toys, games, gagests, etc. Anything a middle school aged kiddo will enjoy. These are being collected by the Lions Club and will be given to those in need. There will be a collection box located in the lobby area next week. Please drop off items there. Thank you!

• If you are interested in becoming a New Albany High School Cheerleader for the 2017-2018 season, tryouts will be held the first week of May. May 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th from 4:30-7 pm each day (Friday out time will be later). There will be a mandatory meeting Monday May 1st at 4:30 pm. We will also be holding an open tumbling practice Tuesday, April 25th at Royal Cheer Xtreme from 5 pm-7pm for those preparing for tryouts. If you plan on attending open tumbling, please bring $5 cash that day. Thanks and we are excited to see everyone tryout!!!

• Congratulations to the Scribwood swim team! They brought home the Second place trophy from the Clark Floyd Tournament. Brayden Lucas swam his fastest time in the 50 fly and Kurt Geron took second place in the 50 breaststroke! Congratulations swimmers on an amazing season. We will have our celebration the Tuesday we come back from spring break after school until 5 pm. Please bring $2 for pizza.

• Coach Jordan and Coach Alexis will be offering a technique class for current Bulldogs and everyone thinking about trying out on Thursday 6:30 – 7:30 PM at DanceWorks from March 16 – April 27. Open to the public! $5 per girl.

• Congrats to the Hazelwood Concert Band on a great performance at ISSMA contest this weekend. The band received a silver rating and had an excellent performance on some very difficult music. Congrats!

• Great job to the swim team Tuesday night. They lost a tough meet to Highland Hills. Kurt Geron swam his best time in his 50 breast stroke and took first place in the 100IM. The 200 free relay with Brayden Lucas and Karson Fox.

The team practices today for 4-5:30 and faces highland hills Thursday night in the championship. The 6th grade boys team plays Scribner tonight in the first round at 7pm at Scribner.

  • 5th grade boys’ basketball team beat Henryville 37-7 last night, with everyone contributing. Malik Smith and Max Alexander led the team with 6 points apiece. The 6th grade team lost a hard fought game to Henryville in two overtimes 35-37, the team was led by Jonathan Foster with 11 points. Both teams have no practice today and have practice Monday 4-5 pm.

• Hazelwood’s wrestling team will be hosting their first annual Bullpup Wrestling Fundraiser at Roosters in Clarksville. The cost is $15 and is all you can eat with drinks included!
